Clifton E. Buckrham, Sr. is a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he was reared and attended the public schools of Goldsboro and Wayne County. His faith journey began at the early age of 13 when he committed his life to Christ and became a member of the holiness-Pentecostal movement.

He earned a B. A. in Political Science from Shaw University in 1971. He also did undergraduate studies at Kalamazoo College in Michigan and the University of Sierra Leone in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. He graduated from Duke University Divinity School in 1985 with a Master of Divinity degree. There he was awarded the prestigious Jameson Jones Preaching Award for excellence in preaching. He studied further at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, obtaining the Doctor of Ministry degree in 1988, focusing on “Christian Education Through Biblical Preaching.”

Dr. Buckrham’s professional journey has been varied and extensive, including serving as a Research Assistant for the Joint Center for Political Studies in Washington, D.C. He served as a Personnel Specialist for various agencies of the U. S. Government. He also worked as a Church Relations Specialist for Habitat for Humanity International between 1994 and 1997, reaching out to various denominational and religious bodies.

He has pastored six congregations in the North Carolina cities of Stantonsburg, Henderson, Raleigh, and Greensboro. Notably, he founded and pastored Resurrection Fellowship UHC in Greensboro, NC, from 2005 until his retirement in February 2022. He was consecrated to the bishopric of the United Holy Church of America, Inc., in 2013.

Dr. Buckrham served as President of the Southern District Convocation (Henderson) of the UHC. He is recognized for his impactful ministry, serving nationally and internationally as a revivalist, conference, and camp meeting preacher, a teacher, and lecturer across various denominational, racial, and ethnic settings.

He is the author of “Higher Ground for Christian Preaching.” He currently resides in Whitsett, NC, is married, and is the father of two and grandfather of three.
